Hello pen lovers!    Since 1996, I have been hand crafting very high quality, collectable CUSTOM WOOD PENS and DEER ANTLER PENS and selling them at craft shows in Texas.  Since 2003, through this website, I have also gained customers in 41 states!  I have been a woodworker for 30 years and have completed many pieces of fine furniture for personal use.   I had seen some lathe-turned writing instruments several years ago and was immediately attracted to the functionality and design possibilities.   Here at Dismore Woodworks, I personally craft each and every custom turned pen, starting with the highest quality mechanisms and fittings available.  This is the most important thing to consider for the longevity of the pen.  You can find less expensive custom wood pens on the internet, but you always get what you pay for!  If you are looking for cheap, mass produced, promotional pens for under $10 - then surf on, I can't help you.   I use only the finest grade hardware plating available!  All of my creations, even ballpoints, now have PLATINUM fittings (specifically this Rhodium is the hardest member of the Platinum family of metals)  I also include a two year guarantee that equals that of MONT  BLANC®  and other big name pen manufacturers.  Some other custom pen makers use 24K gold or 10K gold plating that will wear off very quickly, usually within a few months of use!  I know, because I made a few of these in 1996 and observed the wear qualities before entering the custom pen market and deciding to serve customers who were looking for the very best pen available, still at a moderate price.

I don't want to waste my time and valuable rare woods to make a cheap pen, just to save a couple of dollars.  Don't be fooled as you compare my pens with those on some other websites, always ask for PLATINUM fittings for the highest quality wood pens!   Also, each pen includes a free solid maple gift box - some other sites charge $10 or more for this!

I do not use a duplicating machine like some "crafters" that use a duplicator to turn out 200 pens per day!  To my mind, that's not really hand-crafted.  Each of my writing instruments is turned one at a time, by eye, so no two pens are ever quite alike, making them great for collectors.  The variations in color and markings from the variety of exotic woods I choose is fantastic!   Bethlehem Olive Wood in particular, displays incredible grain patterns and is my best selling wood.  Deer antler pens are perfect for the outdoorsman or serious pen collector.  Need some great gifts?
My collector grade writing instruments can be used to satisfy all of the following needs:

I currently make the two types of writing instruments shown at the top of the page:  a Twist Ballpoint type wood pen, and a Screw Cap Gel Ink/Rollerball wood pen (upgradeable to a fountain pen)
The Ballpoints use genuine Cross® refills or any generic refill that fits Cross® type pens.
The Rollerballs use the Pilot G2 gel ink refills.  Refills for both types are available in your choice of point sizes and ink colors from office supply stores, drugstores & Wal-Mart stores everywhere!

The platinum rollerball wood pens are a great writing experience!  It's effortless.  They offer the same quality writing experience as the "big names" at a fraction of the price and are much more durable. The ballpoints are lightweight, ergonomic,  and great for carrying in a pocket. Note the Dismore Woodworks custom designed "scoop" towards the tip of the ballpoint shown above.  This provides the most comfortable grip for most users, reducing writing fatigue, and is found on all of my ballpoints.

Ballpoint Pens in Platinum are only $45 in your choice of many woods.

New for 2006!  I am now including a free solid maple gift case!  (a $10-18 value)

Gel ink/Rollerball  pens in PLATINUM start at only $55 in your choice of many woods.
New for 2006! I am now including a free solid maple gift case!  (a $10-18 value)

Free solid maple case shown below (you will see similar cases as a $10.00-$18.00 option on other websites) is included with all my CUSTOM WOOD PENS  for a classy gift presentation.  No cheap plastic boxes here!  Included in each case is a wood identification card and refill instructions for the custom pen you have ordered.

Some Recent (Spring/Summer 2008) testimonials from happy customers: (many more on testimonials page)

Dear Roger:

<>My pen arrived today.  Such a fast delivery.  I ordered it on Friday and it is here on Monday. <> My thoughts on the rollerball pen…<>
A well made writing instrument.  It has a substantial feel and is well balanced.  I consider it a work of art.  I requested the Ancient Kauri wood.  The concept that the pen is made of wood that could be up to 50,000 years old is awe-inspiring.  As a CPA, I do substantial writing (even in this age of computers) and this will be the pen I plan to use on a daily basis.

Thank you.

Good Day Roger,
I received the pens. Beautiful!  The Texas ebony is much prettier than the picture and it is "ALL AMERICAN".  In looking around, you are the only pen maker who offers a custom pen that uses the Pilot G2 gel refill.  I favor a fountain pen for personal correspondence but prefer the G2 for checks and business signatures and also while traveling. The fountain pen writes as if it is on glass and rides lightly in the hand.  Wonderful.  I look forward to my next pen from you.
Larry, Palmyra, TN

"Roger,
I just wanted to say thanks for a great product and most of all, great service. I purchased an olive wood pen as a gift for my father and have to say your description doesn't quite do it justice. The pen is absolutely beautiful, the grain is very delicate and works well with the shape of the pen. In addition it feels very good in hand. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick delivery after I placed my order, the pen was here in 2 days."
         Thanks Again,  Rob      Molbile, AL

"Dear Roger, I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the tulipwood and afzalea rollerballs. I converted the afzalea pen to the rollerball as I have a number of fountain pens with nibs that suit me really well (I like a fine or extra fine nib – mediums are too wide). The pens write beautifully with the Pilot gel ink. I have gotten many questions and compliments regarding these two pens and have passed your business card on to several people. I admit to being hooked on your rollerballs now and will soon order another one. I just wanted to say thanks."

         Cheers, Russ    Ashland, VA

Need it tomorrow?  I am now offering Express Mail next day delivery by the post office for an additional charge of $14.00 within the continental United States.  This charge is additional to the standard $6.00 shipping charge that is attached to every order.  If you would like next day delivery, please contact me by phone first at 972-641-0542 to be sure your pen is in stock for immediate shipment, it must be ordered on a weekday when the post office is open, then click on the link to ITEM #112 on the next line to add Express Mail shipping.
ITEM# 112 Express Shipping   $14.00   Add to CCNow Cart

International Shipping?  Due to requests from pen collectors (and several past customers) around the world, I am resuming shipping to other countries.  I ship using the US Postal Service "Global Express Shipping" service that takes 3-5 days to most countries.  From past experience shipping to several countries, the post office usually charges me between $28-$29 for a pouch that will hold up to 3 pens in their wood boxes.  I have placed a flat rate charge of $29 in the shipping section of the CCNow shopping cart for any shipment outside the USA.   Thanks! Roger

Need Laser Engraving?

First, be sure to allow one week for engraving - that's the time it takes the engraving service after I craft the pen.
It's only $10.00 additional per pen (or box)  Engraving shows up best on light colored woods like the birdseye maple example shown below, or cardinalwood, satine, deer antler, or rosewood.  It will not show up as well on dark woods like cocobolo, ebony, or multi-colored Dymondwood, tru-stone or celluloid, and is not recommended!
For Bethlehem Olive Wood, due to the tremendous grain activity - I recommend engraving the maple gift box instead of the pen itself.  For best results on pens, please limit your text to one line of 14 characters maximum, including spaces.   For boxes you may engrave up to two lines of text.  Laser engraved items are not returnable.

Be sure to click Item #100 (below) to add engraving to your order (indicate either pen or box)

LASER ENGRAVING    $10.00  ITEM #100Add to CCNow Cart

New for 2006! If you choose a dark wood, or patterned dymondwood for your pen, you may wish to have the maple gift box engraved, instead of the pen (not both)  Just specify "engrave the box" in the special instructions.  Up to two lines may be engraved.
Here is an example of an engraved maple gift box:
Again, be sure to add item #100 Laser Engraving (shown above)

Are you a serious pen collector who will use only high quality fountain pens?   You may choose any of the  CUSTOM WOOD PENS  from the gel/rollerball page, (not the ballpoints page) then simply add the fountain pen tip (rollerball upgrade kit) listed here. I'll replace the rollerball tip with the fountain pen tip. Tip will ship "dry" so you will ink it for the first time!  It's only $65 additional, and includes a solid 14k "585" medium nib, a bulk ink pump, and starter "international" type cartridge.  Extra cartridges are available at Staples Office Supply as "Allwrite #8004-32"

These solid 14k nibs simply glide over the page with no pressure, and are vastly superior to cheaper "Iridium tipped" steel nibs.  They are hand made by a German manufacturer who makes 80% of the 14k nibs used by the major pen manufacturers.  The nib is the most important part of a fountain pen, so it pays to get the very best!

Warranty:   Dismore Woodworks  writing instruments are guaranteed to be mechanically defect free for a period of two years from receipt of your pen.   Should a mechanical or plating defect occur, you may return your pen within the two year period for free repair or a new replacement pen!  Warranty does not cover abuse or physical damage incurred after delivery like "you sat on it and broke it, or your child played with it and broke off the clip."  The spring clips will last for years if not abused.  They are designed for use in shirt pockets only - not jeans pockets!  Forcing a clip over thick material will eventually break it off!    Variations in grain pattern and color from the pens pictured on this site are not considered a defect; every tree is different.   You actually want to be able to tell your wood pen from someone else's; that's why you are buying a custom wood pen! The actual pens pictured here have been previously sold, but your pen will be very similar in size, shape & color.

All pens shown are in stock and ready to ship, or can be crafted usually within 48 hours.  Pens are shipped by priority mail for only $6.00 total shipping cost for up to 10 pens!  CCNow is a respected credit card processing center for many small businesses like mine for secure online shopping.

I am a proud member of the International Association of Penturners.   Great group of folks!
